The SAWA Lumberjacks returned to Brevard, NC for the eighth time at the Cradle of Forestry. The competition heated up right at the start with Daryl Weakland winning the Wood-Mizer Single Buck event.

Great Crowd and Great Competition for SAWA Season Opener |
Over 20,000 people filled downtown Kernersville, NC for food, live music and great lumberjack action. Set up on the lawn in front of the town hall, the young-up comers of the SAWA, Logan Scarborough and Matt Slingerland, battled series veterans, Mike Slingerland and Daryl Weakland.

2009 Season Comes to a Close |
The South Atlantic Woodsmen’s Association finished its seventh season at the Lexington Barbecue Festival on October 24. The SAWA crowned a new first time champion, Wayne Louya. Wayne was consistent at all the shows throughout the year, which helped him to win the title. Wayne also tied with Daryl Weakland for the overall winner in the Hot Saw event this year.
