Mike Slingerland Wins Again! |
For the second contest in 2010, Mike Slingerland bested the field and won the overall title at the Danville Festival in the Park.
Slingerland won two events: the Wood–Mizer single buck and the axe throw, and placed second in three of the four other events. First time SAWA competitor, Scooter Cogar, made his presence known winning the underhand chop and placing fifth in the standing block chop. Scooter is a cousin of world champion lumberjack, Jamie Cogar of West Virginia. Matt Williams of Blanch, NC had a solid performance and tied Daryl Weakland for second in the overall standings. Williams won the STIHL Stock Saw event and placed second in the Wood–Mizer single buck. Jay Blackburn and Jon Rhoney rounded out the top five for the day.
