Welcome to SAWA -
Weakland Wins at Brevard
The SAWA Lumberjacks returned to Brevard, NC for the eighth time at the Cradle of Forestry.  The competition heated up right at the start with Daryl Weakland winning the Wood-Mizer Single Buck event.
“I was off in the single at Kernersville and Danville.  After Danville I went back over some technique and made a few cuts at the house,” said Weakland.  Along with his win in the single buck, Weakland also won the hot saw event by two tenths of a second over Trevor Saville of Virginia.  Saville turned the tables in the STIHL Stock Saw event by out cutting Weakland by sixth tenths of a second for the win.  SAWA rookies, Logan Scarborough and Scooter Cogar, finished first and second respectively in the underhand chopping event.  In the standing block, Cogar took the win and Scarborough finished second. “These two rookies have a lot of potential and they are learning fast.  It will be interesting to see who wins the Rookie of the Year” said SAWA President, Jimmy Lawrence.  Mike and Matt Singerland battled for the win in the axe throw event.  Both Slingerlands threw a perfect score of fifteen and went into a throw off, which Matt won with a bulls eye.  Matt Slingerland won the exhibition springboard chop with a fast time, which was his personal best.  Check out the results page to see how all your favorite SAWA lumberjacks finished at Bervard.
